Hello over there
A couple of weeks ago I got this Oil Bath Air Cleaner... The issue that I see is that there is NOTHING inside it it looks like the filter element was removed...
Here some pics:
It`s empty inside...
Now, my questions are:
- How the hell could somobody have taken the element out?? There are no signs of damage nor modifications...
- What should I do? Trash it? or there is any kind of subtitue element I can use?
I don`t know what to do...
Thanks in advance |

Looks pretty normal for an oil bath cleaner to me, so will say restore it.
I may be wrong but oil bath aircleaners never had any filtering elements inside. _________________ Be kind to all critters. America's "H8TERZ" can drink sludgy used Motor Oil!

Exactly... But I don not know wich kind of material it is...
Does anybody know what can I do? This thing is in a very good shape, it would be a pity having to trash it... |

You are correct. The top of the air cleaner shouldn't be empty. _________________ 63 T1 Ragtop Gulf Blue

That`s what I thought... Now what can I do??
PLEASE!! These things are not that common over here, so it would not be that easy to find another one unless I pay stupid prices...

My bad.. I see what you are talking about now. Thought you meant like an aftermarket foam gauze that would fit inside the aircleaner.
Don't know of any suitable material to use, but sure would be a shame to not find something.
I am with you as for hating having to throw out an original part out. _________________ Be kind to all critters. America's "H8TERZ" can drink sludgy used Motor Oil!

There is a coconut fiber material used in the gardening industry that has been mentioned in the threads as a workable substitute for the original material and there was a link to the product and it was cheap and in unlimited supply. Keep searching but KEEP that air cleaner. |

Isn't the coconut fiber filtering element in the air cleaner the same as the original stuffing in the seats? That's how it always looked to me.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm very very very interesting indeed... Definetely you can get anything you need if you know where to look for it... Really love you guys!! That looks to be a suitable solution, close to the original... I like it! Thank you for the link my friend!!
And now that you mention it, my rear seat still has some of the original pading...That could be another solution
But, does anyone know how to open the top of the air cleaner?? As far as I can see it seems to be factory sealed... And how can I put the coconut fiber in? Should it have a specific "layout" into the top?? How many layers??
Thanks, best regards! _________________ Alexey Sanchez |
