|
|
Im finally jumping back into the split bus scene with this great 67 westy.
I found it upstate NY and with the help of Tim (stall20) Stark, we assessed the future bodywork situation.
Hey, It runs and drives!
So does anybody know if the correct curtains are the same as the early bay westfalia curtains?

Greg, I am so surprised your Westy is still available, what an outstanding bargain.
I think these are the curtains he needs.

I finally found time to start restoration on my westy. Looks can be pretty
deceiving.
PO used 16 gauge sheet metal for repairs. |

Cargo doors were first.
Measure 5 times, cut and weld once.
Inspired by my buddy Tim from Rochester! (stall20) |

If your still looking for a set of curtains, Steve out of Berlin makes a really nice reproduction. It's a dead ringer in both color and texture and stitched identical to the OG curtains.
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1565012
I have a set myself and actually help Steve show them at the OCTO show's for those that want to see them in person before purchasing. You can PM me with any questions.
Good luck with the new Westy. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

| Thanks for that info. I collected 3 sets of 68-71 front curtain material to make my curtains. But maybe getting a repro set might far less of a headache. |

I wanted to preserve as much of the original floor as possible.
So I got the combo sheet metal brake from Harbor Freight to fab some
patches.
Working on my fab skills.
I'll finish off the metal later and fill in the the tack welds. |

I did some sandblasting and found more hidden rot
Drilled out the spot welds

The inner rockers were pretty wholly, rotting from the inside out, probably from the previous repair that collected water inside.
Once again measure 4 times, weld once

B-pillar and cargo rocker time! I even got to use my Harbor Freight spot welder, it actually worked pretty well.
AC repair panel seems to work well with the funky green panel.
