I have a new (center, electrical) utility door for the side, but no idea on how to get it into the frame.
Can I just smash it into place? (nah)
Is there some trick involving twisting the door and yoga chants?
Or is these some way to remove the frame and then put the door in there?
If the latter, I see 6 different screws - which ones need to be removed?

There should be a very thin stainless steel pin and spring. You have to manipulate the pin while getting tension on the spring and insert the pin on one side and push it through the small hole that passes all the way through. Then line up the hole and center and push the pin back through the other hole, takes a little bit of finessing. You need to get the spring right to get tight closure on the door. I did not need to take the fittings off the van. Small needle nose pliers help.
I just replace two on my Westy, takes a little doing.
It's dark out now and I am away tomorrow, can't get good picture for you. Maybe someone else has some pictures they can post. If not I can post some Monday. _________________ 1982 Westfalia 1.6NA diesel. Converted to Turbo 1.6 and sold.

Replaced the flapper door awhile back and the foam gaskets that go allong with it. Had to remove the entire box for the gaskets to be installed so it made replacing the flapper door much easier.
I noticed that at the very end of the spring...the plastic part that holds the spring had been melted a bit. I can only assume that by melting a small area prevents the spring from getting disslodged. Once the spring gets sprung, the door will just flop-pid-d-flop in the wind.
Might be easier to remove the 4screws that hold the entire unit in place and then replace the door.
A Samba seller who goes by the name Howard, has a nifty kit of stainless steel metric screws and in the kit are 12 small screws that replace the original rusty ones..their a nice touch |

| On my former Westy, one was flapping and on a long trip it just disappeared, I taped the others to avoid losing them. |
