anybody know of any problems or set backs on this decision, beside the not matching #'s lower resale value.

The install is straightforward enough, but one wonders why bother.

If you're going to do a new engine, why wouldn't you put in something that is better than the original? The earlier engines were workable and all, but were possessed of several areas that were greatly improved in the later versions. Post-'60 cases (w/their large oil pumps) remain the best foundation and late cranks, rods, and valve train can't be beat.

If you're gonna spend the dough, spend it on improvement.

Or not.

If the 56 engine runs well and the 59 does not than by all means do it.
That way you'll be enjoying you car while the 59 engine is made perfect and switch back at your leasure...

the 59 engine is gone, I found a 56 for $2,500, has 85,000 miles, But I guess maybe I should wait till a post 60 deal comes along, thanks
