Hey everyone,
Last month my mom decided she wanted an old Beetle again (she had a 67 when I was first born back in 76).
We found her another 67 and she loves it (it's currently black and was tan at one point)! I decided to get her the car's birth certificate as a gift. It just arrived today and the car was originally Java Green with a Gazelle Interior.
I saw here on the Samba that Gazelle is apparently more of a dark brown color. But I can't really seem to find any good pictures of that color combination in the gallery.
Do any of you have the Gazelle interior so I can show her what it was like?
Thanks! _________________ 9th Owner of a 1971 Tintop Westy

The colour brochure doesn't show a particularly dark brown, and I would say in person it'd look even lighter when you consider how dark everything else looks in the brochure.
Only halfway decent pic I can find in the gallery, but it is a little washed out from the flash:

Here is a pic of the factory original thing, from the gallery. Think: "Tan". This was from a 1967 Beetle sedan rear seat back in "Gazelle" color. Note the heat seams! You can barely make out the 1/4 panels on each side in same original color. There wasn't any pics of outside of car, sorry.

Cool.
I'm so used to either gray or ivory (or aftermarket black) that this is all new and cool to me! Thank you! _________________ 9th Owner of a 1971 Tintop Westy

norcalweekender when I was looking for Java Green bug interiors I found a few in your favorite photos section. My Java 67 has black in it now but the Gazelle or something close to it looks so much better. |

Well, yeah, I spent some time yesterday looking for some pictures. Just wasn't sure if it was an aftermarket brown or the actual Gazelle. So I started the thread to find out. _________________ 9th Owner of a 1971 Tintop Westy

Got it, from my research the "correct" Gazelle will be hard to find and very expensive. Some of the Saddles and a few of the Tans look good with the Java, this is a driver project 67 doing this time so I just want it to look nice. I need door panels, seat covers and the carpet/ mats will need to be replaced too so since I have to replace it all I could change the color if I want. |

Yeah, I imagine so. Thankfully the seats are all in good shape. Carpet too, as memory goes. I haven't seen the car in a month. And right now I know my mom is more concerned with getting everything running well than tearing it all down and doing paint.
But all the responses have been really helpful, guys. Thank you! _________________ 9th Owner of a 1971 Tintop Westy
