I am having problems getting my horn to work. I have the 2 wires that go to the horn and I thnk they are alright. My question is with the horn button. Is there a wire that connects to the horn ring? If so where. It looks like there is a place to connect a wire on the ring, the little plate with the screw in the middle of it, but I don't see a wire. If a wire connects there...then where does the other end go.
Any help would be appreciated.

you failed to give the year of the car, but while there are a couple of differences, it basically operates the same. The horn is always HOT when you turn the key on (black/yellow wire), the horn is grounded by being bolted to the body, but it takes another ground wire direct to make it work
this is a thin BROWN wire, There should be (or have been) one running through your steering shaft. On early models it connected to a spade on the steering column tube... on later ones it goes down to one side of the rubber coupling on the steering box.... If your lucky you may find that it was just pushed down into the column and you can get it back out.... Otherwise the thing can be a real pain in the ass to get working properly... Go to one of the websites with a good wire diagram, or I always had the benifit of having numerous cars around the shop to compare to, maybe find a friend with a similar model???? Good luck... K

Check out John Henry's web site, www.thebugshop.org he has a whole section called "horn wiring hell." It's unter the tech section on the front page and will walk you through everything you need to know.
