Found a 64 beetle, exterior it is a 9 out of 10. Interior could use work but is in overal nice shape. It was fully restored 9 years ago. The problem is the engine. It was a 1200cc, rebuilt and enlarged to 1385cc. The owner says it has a blown cylinder head or burnt valve ( any help on beetle engines would be apriciated here as I am just starting the hobby ). I am looking for thoughs on value and what it would take to get fixed. Please please please help me!!! |

Sounds like a nice car. As to overall value, hard to say as I can't see your car, but with the interior and engine work needed, I can't imagine more than $2500. Of course, it could be way more if the interior isn't in real need of anything significant. It sounds like you're going to need a complete rebuild on the engine, though. An isolated burnt valve or head problem may be hiding other problems. Pay the $$ and have a real VW mechanic look it over so you are informed about cost and needed repairs--use this information to negotiate a lower price with the seller. Since it's a new car and I like to give free advice, start fresh! Get the engine rebuilt and then you know where you stand with your motor as long as you own the car. Good luck. |
