does any one know where i can find the fresh air box that mounts in the trunk? any help would be greatly appreciated.

the fresh air box mounts under the louvers in the trunk, i have rarely seen them on any late model vw, they always seem to be missing

Yeah but if they are missing rainwater will get into the trunk area and rust the car and saok the wiring under the hood and generally cause all kinds of havoc... If your bug does not have one I suggest using DUCT tape on the bottom of the hood where the vent is to block off the opening under the hood vent until you can locate one....
The box was for fresh air to be mixed with the heat/defroster, it has a drain hose that goes THROUGH the hole by the gas tank(also check for rust out there...) that let water drain out... Many people removed them to install stereo's and failed to see the significance of them and they got trashed.... Get one..... your bug needs it...
