I need your input. Ive been hearing some corney ass VW words lately. I dont know who makes them up but heres some I've heard.... "PEANUT WINDOW"..A guy at Pomona called an oval that. "McDONALD LID" (a guy reffering to a W decklid -REALLY CORNEY... "SAUSAGE GLASS"? I heared a guy asking if I knew any one anyone who was selling "sausage glass". I was really dumbfounded. He meant bus skylight windows. I hate this one. "3 LAYER", reffering to a 3 fold ragtop bug. "EARLY CRABS" talking about the early 15x4.5 skinny Porsche fuch alloys, "REFRIGERATOR HANDLES" the bug door handles up to 59. "ROTWEILLER TAIL" the licence plate light up to 63 bug. "MOTORHOME BEAM" a narrowed beam? "8 BALLS" straight gangster corney way of reffering to 48 I.D.A. Webers, I need your input. Maybe this is a west coast cornball thing but Im sure there are some more corney ones out there from all over. I hear Hawaiii has some too..

dog leg, pope's nose, one-eyed duck. you know what each one of these is, right? probably used them yourselves. are these that much different than baby window or refrigerator handles. i think these are pretty descriptive terms and draw a pretty clear picture of the item in question.

if i told you i had an "early" "ragtop" "barndoor" with "bubble" "tail" lights, "bullet" turnsignals, "banjo mirror" "arms", "banjo" steering wheel with a "flying lady" "horn" "button", "beauty rings", "piano hinge quarter lights" and the only thing it needed was "outriggers" you'd be pretty excited for me but you'd know what was "spam" and "correct" right?

some i've heard before, some i haven't. some work better than others, some have been around longer. some is fairly accurate some strays. some we have more of an affinity for. etymology fascinates me. i like the language. it's part of the cult. some of which is the glue that keeps us interested in the same thing, whether it has sausage glass or bay windows. and the one-eyed duck, that keep the wipers in place if you have flexible wiper shafts for your "safari" windows.

I was just saying corney words because every time its always something new. I know what earlyman is saying , some are necessary but peanut window? Rotweiller tail? what is a semaphore? a hard-on? it wouldnt surprize me one bit. In the High Desert (So. Cal) they call late model VW's "Fat Chicks" I wonder why? hmmm,I guess they are VW but they are not wanted as much. I think "baby window" comes from Hawaii? I dont like "snowflake" lights either. I just call them small taillights.

semaphore comes from railroad speak. it is a track signaling device. yeah, ya' hear all kinds of dumb stuff at shows. the most exhausting part of shows for me is listening to all the stories full of all these terms. i'm sure there are folks out there who end up at a dog show once in a while and call their friends rottweilers tail a "popes nose" and gets some strange looks there too. some people!
