Hello;

I am in the process of installing a rebuilt trans on my 66 Type 1. I can not find a good decripition onhow to remove the rear wheel bearing without possibly destroying it. Please help and if you have any learning experiences on installing a rebuilt trans with my own axles, let me know also. Thanks

Rick

You shouldn't reuse the bearing after taking them off. Find a pair of bolt and grind the head on one side to slip into the races between the balls, shaped like an L. Get them long enough to reach past the axel shaft through a GOOD puller. Be sure to use a GOOD grade 8 or 8.8 DIN bolt. 1/4", 5/16" x 3-4" works for me.
