I have a 66 bug, and this car has an unusual ignition switch/steering lock. The car has no provision for an in-dash ignition switch, and there has not been any body work done on that part of the car. The car instead has a steeing lock on the column, with the part number 111 905 851 e. the igniton switch on it also has the words "halt" "garage" "fahrt" and "start engraved on it. the steering column has a hole cut in it, where the lock will engage when the key is removed. Any information on this system and it's relitive rarity would be helpful. |

Your 66 is more than likely a European car. Check you cars history it probably made the trip across the ocean with a military person early in its life. Does the front apron have overrider holes? The smaller round holes above the bumper bracket holes? The system its self, although rare, isnt worth all that much but, attached to the original European car its a great conversation peice and definitly worth more. At any rate, it sounds like a cool cars. |
