Ok, this has probably done, but what are the benefits of an oil sump? I heard it can keep your oil pressure up during hard corners. Would it also keep temps down? Would I not be able to slam my bug anymore? _________________

Prevents oil starvation in the corners and hard acceleration.
It really doesn't keep the oil any cooler. _________________ Glenn

Ok. How hard is it to install? I realize I would have to drain the motor, remove the current the sump, but what else? _________________

Bolt it to the bottom of the case and put on the pickup extension.
Maybe 2 hours if you're really slow and drink a few beers. _________________ Glenn

Cool. Sounds easy. Any suggestions about the size? I've got a 1600dp, all stock. I assume I don't need a big one. _________________

Any problems with reduced ground clearance for a car with factory stance? _________________ Rebuilt to drive not decorate. -VOLKSWAGNUT

Anytime you hang something on the bottom of the engine, you decrease ground clearance. But I am running one on our buggy (which is dropped slightly) and on my project, which is also dropped. No problems on either, but I also use some common sense and dont run down cow paths with 6" deep ruts. A stock car would be better.
The sumps always bring out debates, but my feeling is that adding oil capacity is always a good thing - more oil means that it gets beat up less by the engine. And as Glenn pointed out, having that reservoir would reduce oil starvation when cornering. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone 1914. Ex wifes car.
