Hello all,

While looking at parts, I came across a few rubber seals that go on the engine tin to help seal the compartment for inside/outside air. They come up on cip1 and have the vanagon listed, but only go up to 79 so I'm not sure if they'll fit or not, was wondering if anyone has tried them.

This one I think would go around the two heater pipes on either side of the access hatch behind the licence plate: www2.cip1.com/vwc-021-119-627-b/

This goes around the oil filler tube: https://www2.cip1.com/vwc-021-119-953/

And this one I think would go in the hole the oil pressure sensor goes, right behind the distributor. Although its top looks more sloped than my van's tin looks: https://www2.cip1.com/c16-021-957/

I did ask cip1 the same question at least about the first seal, they said no they dont fit, but I'm wondering if that's just because that's what their site says in the fine print, even when the product name states 80-83 vanagons. Confused

Check other sources to see what they give for part numbers. The boot for the oil pressure switch looks correct, but can't say for sure about the others.

When I rebuilt my engine I couldn't find any of those seals (except the oil sensor boot), so unless they started making them again those are not the correct ones.

I cut up a pool noodle and stuffed it in there, it works.

both to my eyes, look very close to what would be there on a vanagon engine.
