Confirming, K1 is not an LED, it is a (clear) bulb, as stated on page 90.18. As it has a filament (that LEDs do not), it overheats, causing a silver tungsten(?) deposit to form on the inside of the bulb. This doesn't mean it is burned-out; only a test with 12-volts will determine this.
The heat output from the bulb (of-which the blue lens "head" is shaped like the LEDs), can cause the plastic (blue) lens and/or the black housing around it to partially melt, attaching to the bulb, making it "glued" in its hole of the warning light module. If this happens, it will remain in the hole, pulling the leads out of the 3-hole socket, attached to the circuit ribbon, when the socket is removed from the module.
To remove K1, gently grasp the leads with hemostat and gently pull it out of the hole. Be very careful; this is brain-surgery. Once out, the bulb can be checked and if good, re-inserted in its socket before re-inserting the bulb/LED holder back in the module. |
