Trying to find old pictures of beetle's back in the 70's with this particular scroll & striping on it that was purchased from EMPI back in the day. I am having no luck as I would like to put this kit on one of my beetles if anyone can post some on this thread I would really appreciate it.

I have a friend that worked at Economotors who's job it was to build GTV's back in the late 60's early 70's he still has his letter of recommendation from Economotors with his job title listed as "Accessory Installer" if you can't figure it out or find the pics you need I can ask him for details on where stuff went. _________________ I own a copy of "The Car of the Century" by Garwood. The old General Manager f Economotors/EMPI lives in Stockton... find Chuck Tatum, or Google Crusader Formula Vee race cars, and I'm sure you'll find him. I had a most enjoyable time visiting with him some years back, while writing/researching the EMPI VSR story for Hot VWs... anybody remember what VSR stood for?
Chuck was one of the main guys behind the EMPI car that never was, the VSR, only a very few were ever built...
So send Eric down there to find him, and Eric, when you do, tell him I said hello, I'm sorry about Joe's passing, and make sure you bring your tape recorder... I barely scratched the surface with this guy after 2 solid days of conversation....
Johnny, what did you decide on the wood dash kit? _________________ 2003 Samba Chummie Winner- Best Story

Too cool, Eric.
I remember those "VW Diagnosis" signs came about in around 1969- VW had a machine, that plugged into a port in the engine compartment, and it would give a readout of timing, dwell, and just about everything else that could be measured electronically. They didn't last too long, I think that VW Diagnosis was over with by about 1974-1975... _________________ 2003 Samba Chummie Winner- Best Story

Yo johnny!!! put that shit on your car and change you user name to
PIMPI
I have a pic of a car somewhere!! But If I remember correctly the bigger patterns are locaited over the head and tail lights!. The smaller are at the corners of the doors and quartes! The pinstripping goes on the doors between the patterns at the top bottom and down the sides of the doors!.
Aswell as the quarter! Not sure about the tail light housing getting a pattern or not ??? |
