I stumbled across this guy's gallery while searching for some 917 photos and was completely blown away at the amount of work these guys put in. There's an amazing amount of detail shots here.
Main Gallery
Engine Build
Chassis Prep
Final Assembly
A couple teaser photos.....enjoy.

Totally Awesome Build,I'm glad I checked it out I was so into the 917 body style when I was younger (Slot cars) I have owned #25 and now own #34 "Laser 917", I know ther not real Porsches' But It's the closest I'll EVER get to a real 917,I try to drive it as much as possable in the spring-fall up here and Show it alot @ Car Shows in the area, I'm up front to tell people that it's a reproduction Kit not a Porsche917,but still a very rare car, only 1000 ever made, and a Blast to drive,Madmike _________________ 'Black Ice'Drag Buggy 'Turbo'

This topic is a couple of months old but I just found it.
While I don't have any pics of Mikes 917, I do have one of my Laser 917. This is THE car I always wanted since I first saw one in a magazine ad in 1970. Found mine on Ebay!
It's really a sheep in wolves clothing. Right now it has a stock worn out 1500SP for power. Like Mike said it's a blast to drive.
I never thought it would get as much attention as it seems to get. People are all about snapping a photo while they drive and even going so far as to stop in the street in front of me to get out and snap a pic.
I have a T4 2.0L to build this season when I get all my side jobs buttoned up. It'll probably get a turbo and EFI. |

What I really love the most about this picture is how rude and crude that engine looks. But it is a thing of beauty.

This is how you build a 917 when you have a very low budget.
