I found a great engine lid in the classifieds - https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2546232
Seller says it’s 64-65, but after dong my homework, it seems like the prop style changed from the linkage style to the spring style in early’64. And looking at the photos in the ad, the prop mounting bracket does seem to be near the corner of the lid, which is for the spring style prop.
So I’m like 95% sure that this engine lid will work perfectly on my ‘66, but I would love some confirmation from this group before I make an offer. Check it out and let me know if you think this will fit my ‘66. Thanks! _________________ '66 Velvet Green Kombi |

'66-'67 have a push button latch. That decklid takes the church key latch. you would have to change your rear apron to make that decklid work on a stock '66.
or as eric&barb would say "get a parts list look it up yourself, and get off my lawn" (an inside joke for people who frequent this forum) _________________ .

Thanks so much for the tip Lind, that’s exactly what I was looking for! Seller is ghosting me anyways so probably already sold, but great to know as I keep looking… _________________ '66 Velvet Green Kombi |
