hey folks, im 14 and about half a year ago i bought a 1956 hard top australian beetle from a local vw mechanic who had since retired, he also owned a split 61 kombi which was taking up all his time and he realised he would not be able to finish the oval.. so i quickly snapped it off of him and started the resto process, i have a budget of about $110 a week so lets see what we can accomplish! Cool

MY PLANS:

get this thing body worked, painted in the next year..

sitting on some gas burners maybe?, or 17X7 front and 18X8 prvat netz?

interior is going to be the most simple i can possibly do, with a 3 spoke wheel, red interior etc (classic look)

other extras like, led stop lights, dual circuit master, front disks, yada yada

You're pretty ambitious for a 14 year old and you sound like you know what you want. Good luck with your progress and let's see some pics!

Oh boy, you've got your work cut out for you! What's the purpose in the modifications you made to the heater channel?

The new Keysar!!! Hope you stay on track!

What rear bumper bracket and rear apron did you use? They look better than aftermarket, OG metal?

DTM, type 4! looks like solex or ICT manifolds to me. Have someone go through the AMC heads, they dont have that great a reputation.

Good luck and nice work on the heater channels, looks like you did the 56 only mod to the vents. Hope they fit better for you than others have reported. Check this thread out to see what this guy had to do to make them look correct for a 59 (which is the same as yours minus the vent location)

keysar??? lol thanks guys for your comments, the purpose for the heater modification was to move the heater outlet more forward because thats where it is on my car.

hey how did you find that engine pic? was it on my gallery? anyway its a 2 liter square port head CU case engine, it now has twin CB performance EFI throttle body's that exhaust system is a CSP python designed for a type 4 into a type 1

the rear apron and rear right quarter panel, re from kdf services, i was happy with the quarter panel but the h apron i wasnt because where the seam join follows along with seam onto the quarter panel it is bloated and totally the wrong shape! pic:

awesome and very good work I am very impressed, I recently rebuilt a rusty azz piece myself.
it takes lots of patience and looks like your doing it the best way, keeping with the details such as the heater vents. keep the pics coming
