Recently I was sent the wrong parts by 2 different suppliers. One place gave me credit for the price of the part and left me keep the part. The other place made me send the part back and refunded me the price of the part but not the original or return shipping. It cost me $18 2 way shipping for a $25 refund. If I had known that, I would have kept the part and sold it at a discounted price to someone who needed it. Anyone else have any experience returning parts? |

A year or 2 ago I was sent a Bug part instead of a Bus part from a vendor.
I did not return it as the vendor sent me a correct one and told me to keep the old one, even after I offered to return it in person when I was in the area so that it did not have to be mailed.
In other cases on exchanges, I was sent a pre-paid return envelope so I did not pay return shipping.
In my opinion if you were sent the wrong part they should send you the right part and pay for the return shipping, if they want it back, since it was their mistake.
In terms of total returns instead of an exchange, different companies handle that differently. _________________ How to Post Photos

I know vendors are a bit different but for me and probably others selling on here, it depends on the part. One person who was not satisfied with something, I refunded their money (shipping too) but let them keep the part since I couldn't use it myself. A different time when the customer wasn't happy, I had them ship the part back since I could use it or put it back up for sale. I refunded the money that they had sent me (part + shipping) I did not send them extra money for return shipping since the original shipping they paid should cover the return.
I had to return some main bearings to CB performance years ago, They took off the bearings price on my next order but did not refund my shipping since I had ordered a bunch of parts but only returned the bearings. To be clear they didn't send the wrong bearings, I ordered 2 sets. _________________ 71 Super - Backroad Thrasher

usually if the part costs less then $50 and will cost more then $10 to ship I don't even brother with returns just not worth the trouble
as my day job has been involved in the parts/warehouse business for 15+ years I can say with a lot of places(not all there are good one out there) you will never benefit well from returning a item unless you are a loyal customer
most of the place I have worked for charge at least 10% restock fee unless it is something they sell on a daily basis and if it's something that rarely sells you are looking at a 30%-50% restock fee _________________ '60 15 window walkthrough
