I have a Syncro Weekender and I'm considering adding a propane tank. How much of a lick does the tank take when it gets bashed off road or is it just not a great idea if doing a lot of off roading?
Cheers! |

| I have never hit mine. I think with the departure qngle you should be good, but of you come down hard on something on that side, that may be an issue. When off roading i am always aware that my tank is there and do my best to not hit anythin with it and so far 8 years and lots of off roading, no problems. |

I have smashed up my spare tire clamshell, bent the two skid bars alongside the driveshaft, and bent the engine "mustache" bar to the point that I had to replace it. The sides of my Syncro carry the indelible faint scratches of many thorny desert bushes. I have destroyed two tire sidewalls on sharp rocks, folded my front license plate, squashed my tailpipe almost shut, and I have blown 2 Old Man Emu shocks while cavorting on jeep trails. I have twice buried my front bumper in the gravel bank of a dry wash so deep that I had to dig out and I once high-centered so badly that with both lockers on I could spin all 4 wheels without making any forward progress. But, aside from one small dent in the metal tray below the tank, I have so far been unable to do any damage to the propane tank.

I plan on mounting a Propane bottle on a rear rack on my Syncro. This is a Gary Lee rack with one mounted.
