This is a good friends Syncro panel van which is mid restoration after many years of abuse.
I thought some of you might like to see a Uk syncro with a few tweaks...

It's originally a stock 2.1DJ panel van with twin diff locks. It's been written off several times for various reasons including an engine fire and a motorbike hitting the side.. hence the sill damage etc.
It's also going to Subaru power with a 2.5 2001 legacy motor using RJES and Small Car parts.
Dai gets on here from time to time so hopefully he'll answer any questions.

Ambitious project. Looks good
Is that a single cab locker door sectioned into the side panel? |

I like the flares! I've thought about doing that when it comes time for my van to get all the body work done. Great project, I hope he posts updates here.

The locker door opens up to -? Is there a enclosed box inside the van or just access to items on the long wall. It is a very interesting mod that seems purpose built. I like it.
This must be Dai that seems to get mentioned when people are cutting up a van over there |

Updates fresh from the garage via Phone photos!!
The extra filler is for LPG, a very neat idea!
All the rear sections of the arches have been moved back and trimmed to allow for the biggest tyres possible.
You can see that the deform panel... well it's gone
Dai had had some thoughts of keeping it and when he fitted the winch last year, it was still there but in very modified form.
I think he got carried away!
I'll keep bugging him for the photos. He has been on here but hasn't had time to sign up or load photos etc.
The last words were something along the lines of tubular rear arms... moving subframes... cutting doors... not sure how of this will happen but it's looking good so far!

I bloody love seeing stuff like this come together. The twin syncro fillers are so cool.
Worth waiting for that repair, hatching plans is such fun, making them come real is even better.

Re that Sika locker door. One of the Irish contingent at Syncropendence 2009 in Wales had one fitted in his Syncro camper as well. Can't remember who though. Dai was camped next to him ... No doubt I'll see it again when I visit Ireland in June. |
