I have a just purchased two 71 baja one is a standard and ones a super..The standard has a floor problem but runs good and the super hasnt got a motor in it..my plan is to fix the super since all it needs is some pans and new fenders since the other ones were just hanging on..if i use a fiberglass front end can i leave the trunk space since i want to put in a full back seat and prob wont use a roll cage, i'm just trying to fix it into a really badass daily driver since the hemi uses so much gas..thank to all that reply and i'll try to update with some pics |

Welcome to the samba!
supers and bajas don't quite mix...

If the standard runs well I would suggest using that for your base and replacing the pans, then go from there. Are you going to be taking it off road at all?

Thats not entirely true. The front suspension is crap, but the body is stronger (he said he dosent want to run a roll cage), there is more room inside and in the trunk ( he said he wants it to be his daily driver, and who dosent want a roomier car) and in general they're a safer car. But their front suspension is crap for off road. But you can do something about that.
So that, tnbugger, is where you have to decide.
Do you want to do a front end conversion on the super and have a torsion suspension and all the comforts of a super?
Do you want to just make the super look like a baja, but never really be able to seriously thrash around off road? (though i have seen some supers take a beating, but stuff does really brake easier on their front suspension)
Or do you not want to do the work of a front suspension swap, and be able to thrash it pretty good off road with out any thing braking?
On top of that, you have to consider which is in better condition to turn into a daily driver.
Thats just my two pennies. _________________ Toyotas are so bumpy it makes me sick, literally.

I would consider the front end swap since I will probably go completely through it,the standard have been chopped up bad and rusted all the way around the floor past the driver door bottom of the post is even gone would that frontend work. How do u add pics on here from a phone |

you could cut the front off th e standard and splice it into your super. Just take lots of measurements to be sure you have it in straight. _________________ 58 Beetle (now just a pile of parts in the corner)
