What's up Hucks!
Moisture in the oil. It'll burn off once it's hot. Make sure the case isn't filled with water. |

No it's not.
It's just from doing short trips where they car never gets up to temp.
letting the car Idle in the driveway to warm up is one of the worst things you can do to it.
Best way to get a car to temp is to drive it, just be easy on it for the first few miles.
even the VW manuals will tell you that. _________________ Quick little bug, you got a Porsche motor in that?

so maybe i should say..... "always drive your vehicle thoroughly through at least one heat cycle prior to shutdown to ensure proper oil consuption and cleanliness of spark plugs" _________________ dcdubs/glcustoms

I passed on a 65 awhile ago, but a buddy grabbed it. He's had a ton of baja's and never a street ride. His goal was to have a vw with turn signals and a horn. I think every VW owner has a goal to have one of each flavor. Either all at once or one at a time. |

could be emulsified water/oil from condensation like stated, or could be white lithium assembly lube since he "just rebuilt it". Hard to tell without a picture and history. |

I had some nasty white milky shit in the top of my oil cap too. Then I checked the breather box and it was filled with milky white oil foam and gas. Nasty shit, I dont think it was allowing the system to even breath properly. Which would explain why my motor has run like shit in the cold and pukes oil out from everywhere. I think you guys are right about getting it hot enough to burn off the moisture. Lack of flaps in the shroud is starting to catching up with me. |

So what's a good run ? Ten miles sufficent enough to have the condensation burn off oil? |

Here's my best guess.
IMHO, I think there are too many variables to answer that correctly. Like what's the outside temps, what is the relevant humidity, oil temp at shut down, etc.... Each motor can also achieve normal operating temps at different rates too.
But, I do think that ten miles would be a good start if the outside temps were above 40 degrees and you have working flaps in the shroud. If that tens miles is uphill and there is a load on the engine it would build up some heat. |

Mine has that issue from time to time so once a week whether it needs it or not I take it out on the Hy and run it at 65 mph for about 20 minutes out and then turn around and run it back total time 40 minutes the cabin heat is quite toasty not over heated. the best part is the lil bit of white slimy goo is all gone.
The cause is from not getting the engine HOT enuf. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

gt and Hank-Agreed!
My lil ole 8 mile commute just doesn't heat the car up enough,
Take it every Saturday up to Mt. Hood, burn all that crap off, if I have to put the chains on then that's a bonus!
Job is gonna move in a few months, googlemaps says its a 40 min drive, that ought to do it If I can afford the gas... _________________ 1972 1302
