Hi everyone!

The sink/ice box unit (behind passenger seat) in my 72 Riviera was removed a long time ago. I am looking for a replacement. Does anyone know the difference between the Riviera and the Westfalia unit? Are they interchangable? Does anyone know of a good resource to find one?

Thanks in advance!
Alex

From the research I have done on ASI Riviera's the company used all domestic RV equipment. I have been able to find many new parts that are almost identical to the originals at RV dealers. If you can't find an icebox from the used vendors like BustedBus.com or Busco.com try an RV dealer or RV salvage yard.

Thanks for the info, kkirwin. My main concern is still sourcing the cabinet itself for the riviera.

For an original cabinet, you're stuck searching the Classifieds - or posting a Wanted Ad. The Riviera sink/ furniture were made here in the USA, and are not the same as the Westfalia sinks of the same vintage.

You might try searching through the gallery here for pics of each, to see where they are located, or posting a question to see if anyone has done the swap or has pics of your specific year.

Also: The wood tone might be very different, so a Westy sink setup might not look great even if it does swap in nicely.

Good luck!

You might also try Russ' VW Dismantling, even closer to you, in Duarte @ (626)303-4366. http://www.russvw.com/

Good luck with the parts hunting.
