Just tidying up my headlights. Not sure if what I have is original to the bus which is a South African Fleetline.

The actual lights are new hella units with LED H4s.

The glasses have a ribbed section in the glass that has a small triangle marking, arrow? The lenses can be fitted either way around. I want to make sure they go back correctly. And what is the purpose of the ribbing, is to do with light control?

I looked at a few pics and I see a mix on configurations, most with them pointing away or towards each other. If it is for light control surely the should be both on the right or left?

The ribbing is typically not in line with any part of the beam, so it won't matter. In practice, it is fitted opposite the mounting tab.

The fluting that DOES matter is on the light lens itself.

Thanks. That’s how I had them. I was going to seal the glass in to minimise any damp getting into the fixing rings and buckets also to stop any of them steaming up which I always had with one. Just wanted to make sure they were right before I sealed them

There is usually a rubber gasket, very tight and hard to fit, that provides a seal on the glass.

Yep have the gaskets. The first ones I got perished and split within a year. This set have lasted but still leak a little so will put together with a smear of silicone
