| Look for a vaccum leak, also is the Aux air valve working, possible bad ICU. It may not be an easy fix. |

| If it were me I would get out the manual and start with the basics: timing, TPS (thottle position switch), idle adjustment & check for vacuum leaks. If still no joy then I would begin to look for bigger troubles. |

A slow aux air valve will do that to an otherwise fine engine. Ditto an old O2 sensor.

Not bad ideas to check the basics.
Do NOT mess with the idle stuff until the very very end. Far tar too many mess with the air box settings when it really is something else.
Check the obvious first and then keep looking some more....
No simple answers really other than to be sure everything is working as it should. _________________ "Use the SEARCH, Luke" But first visit the Vanagon FAQ!

Some diagnostic questions would be in order.
How long have you had the van, how long has it been since last maintenance rounds.
Did it always drive like this, was there anything related to the change?
Could be as simple as a bad vacuum line, or needs a tuneup.
Can you tell us about the van, in a tad more detail? |
