through the main door support, I forgot what it is called, and then drain through the bottom of the car. I would suggest having it exit through the front of the car, running a longer hose, so the water does not build up again and rust out the body again. |

my 66 sedan deluxe has four hoses on the sunroof drain. The two back ones run down the roof (one on the passenger side, and one the driver side) & behind the rear side panels. They exit a small hole located in the rear panel compartment floor section. The tubes stick out the bottom of the car about 3/4 of a inch. If you look underneath the car, rear of the doors you should see or feel the hole. It's not that big, only about 1/2".
I'm not sure where the front tubes go... I never followed them.... |

Hey mackscrew,
how far back from the door edge are those holes? my quarter panels have been replaced so I'll have to make holes. also do the hoses go down through the heater channels or do they exit through the quarter panels, if so how do they clear the running boards? |

my car is at the shop getting painted right now. I hope to have it back by tomorrow night. I'll look & see exactly where all the drain tubes run/exit. |

On a slightly tangent subject, does anyone know if or how a ragtop sunroof drains? I am restoring a 1956 sunroof, and it doesn't have any drains at all as far as I can tell. There are small holes in each corner of the sunroof pressing, but these were plugged with what appeared to be factory rubber plugs. Am I missing something here? Thanks!

I got my car back last night & checked where the drain hoses exit. Like I said the two back ones run down the back roof to the rear of the wheel wells (one on each side of the car). Tubes travel forward through the rear panel compartment and exit just behind the door, kinda on a angle. The tubes stick out barely above the running boards and do not go through the heating channel(s). As for the front drain tubes, this get strange, .. again,, one on each side... they go forward, down through the channel on the sides of the windshield (not really a channel more like the roof support). The tubes then come out in the trunk and run down into the front wheel well(s). They run stright down past where the defroster tubes come up and simply end there. From what I see they do not exit the car.. they just end. That concerns me as I'm not sure where the water would run other than back inside under the carpet. I may drill a small hole for a drain, or route the tubes to a different location for the front tubes.
Hope this helps...

.. ahhh after looking around I found where the front drains exit. Look under the fronts fenders by the running board bolt. Up about a foot, the drain actually looks like a missing fender bolt (which is how I found it,.. I was going to put a bolt in) but is actually the drain hole for the drain tube. |
