Why can't this topic have it's own sticky. There is land speed stuff is spread thoughout this forum. That way all the info from the last few years can be found in one area. _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

It would be nice to just go to one topic and find blacklines info, the aussie info, peoples build info, peoples car info, just all whats being done in one location instead of always searching to find it.
There's a lot more going on with the land speed then 36 hp drag racing it seems. Just a thought _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

Yep that's how I do it. |
It didn't seem like such a big deal but it must be. Many newcomers have no idea
how to search, I hate to search as I'm sure others do.
It's a growing aspect of the 36 hp world with more and more interest,
ps. Crofty, it takes time and money. I have one engine built, working on the second and the third is still ways away, again time and money. I\If I do not have a vehicle ready I'll take my engines there and let someone else use them.
I have planned the trip for the last year and a half _________________ Stocking distributor of "The Funky Green Panels"

You're coming up on the 2 year mark. Surely the guy that builds your engines can get more that 3 done in 2 years. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

I build my own. If I remember right there was a few month gap between
out of the box and major mods and before that a few months between removing the Judson and installing Okrassa 1

I hate to say it, but I think the point trying to be made here (albeit off topic) is simply take that engine, poke it in a car (ANY car!) and drive the shit out of it. Wouldn't it be impressive to DRIVE your engine to B-ville, race it, and then drive it home? Dyno time and results are great, but you've got to get out there and run it, it'll put a big smile on your face and show you what works and what doesn't work. Sure, we all know the tune with running a business. There is simply not enough hours in a day, and when you do have the time usually there's no money and when you have the money that usually means you don't have the time. Rarely do those two things coincide. Look at my sig line and you might get it. It goes along with this Chinese saying "There are three types of people. Those that make things happen, those that watch things happen, and those that wonder what happened. Which one are you?" _________________ 30 years experience in the sales of new and used auto parts!

| Splitpiles idea is good.....think everyone needs to stop attacking one another.......we are a community world wide regardless if you pick your nose or not.......why not have a dedicated LSR post for information.....I am old school too and this would help me with keeping up with the Jones's....cheers 36hp boyz downunder |

All we need to do is start a topic 36 Hp Challenge and every racer or planning to race person reply to that thread and if enough of us reply it will be made a sticky. _________________ 71 Westy Roadcow

Steve, good to see you on here. I know you got rained out this past week but it would be great to have you tell everyone about what you were doing, building, getting ready to race and name names of all your compadres. Rainouts and land speed racing go hand in hand and it is a hard pill to swallow but when you finally get to run next year, it just gets sweeter.
Two of Steves VW's from last year...........and this year there were over 8 VW's of all sorts and 10 or 12 drivers. I don't use Emoticons but their unfortunate luck deserves a sad face here!
I know a few of the folks up here are relieved the threat of you and your mates on some 36hp Challenge classes have been put on hold for at least a little while and I hope everyone got back home O.K. I look forward to hearing about this years effort's and your adventures until the monsoons hit.
As to the topic at hand, I agree with Steve. We are in this for fun and speed, in that order. The many folks who have come from around the US to race, and in Steves case, from Australia, have all had a great time and enjoyed making their VW's go as fast as they could. My only concern with a dedicated forum would be that we might not get the 'outside' ideas and opinions and they may not get ours. I am good either way and enjoy everyones input on the big variety of subjects.
Hey Roadcow, are we going to try and head down under to support the Ratmuller crew next year?

| Thanks Burly for the kind words, the rain pill is hard to swallow BUT we have more time to develop our cars .....the Roo shooter did the 1/4 mile drags last weekend and achieved a 14.4 sec pass ....not bad for a normnally aspirated type 4 donk.....we weighed in at 2300lbs..there is some youtube footage under the name Roo Shooter -Eastern creek march 2011...come along for the ride ...we hope tp bust into the 13's if possible ......what this taught us is the roo bus will easily get over the 120mph mark and maybe a bit more..who knows. Back to the 36er's..our SS stocker will rattle the cans next year and hope that the fine china comes over to australia. The super charged [1958 Arnott] 36er will be tested out soon so will put up some data when we have it ......the big block 36 with the 48ida's is a blast....we are currently playing with a couple of cam choices and hope to achieve a good HP result. The big block 36er will be shoved up the arse of the ghia and aim for the 100mph club next year.Again thanks everyone for the kind words and the support to the boyz down under cheers steve |

Yep Matt, that's what I suggested in my reply at the start of this topic...and that's what you'll now find in the Stickys.
It's a general information Sticky with links to Burly's notification about the current regulations for the 36hp Challenge, also the results from last year and links to videos of the event.
It's not all encompassing...that's not the intention...just too many diverse topics on the subject. A “Samba Search” will reveal specific topics. You can search either by subject matter, by username of the person who posted or both...simple. _________________ John.
