BUG-IN 36 is just around the corner!!!
Here's what you can expect to see this year!!

No Car Show Entry Fee!

Thanks to the people at Wolfsburg West, the Car Show entry this year will once again be free! Just pay for your regular Spectator admission and there is no additional charge to enter your vehicle in the show! “For Sale” Cars are Welcome!

1st Annual BUG-IN Campout

Open to VW Based Camping Vehicles only - Sorry no Motorhomes
Have fun camping out at Bug-In 36 in your Vee-Dub camper and have a chance to win the “Jug”! You’ve all heard of the “Oscar”, the “Emmy”, maybe even the NHRA “Wally”. Well now there is the “Jug”. The “jug” is a well patina’d vintage picnic jug that has been hand lettered by renown VW artist, Tim Leventry. This jug is the trophy for the best campsite at the camp-out Sponsored by GO-WESTY and hosted by VTO and West Coast Bays at the upcoming Bug-In 36. Open to all VW based camping vehicles, participants can camp Saturday night at the raceway. The event will be similar to the vintage trailer shows. Participants are encouraged to bring items such as old bicycles, surfboards, and vintage camping equipment to decorate their “camp site”. On Sunday awards will given out for Best Splitie Westy, Best Splitie non-Westy, Best Bay Westy, Best Bay non-Westy, Best Vanagon, Eurovan etc. There will be special awards for things like “best use of Coleman” and “best surf theme”. The Saturday night campout will be free with your $20 Sunday admission. Show up Saturday between 3-6pm to get a spot.

Huge Swap Meet

Swap Spots are free at the BUG-IN
That’s Right! Thanks to Vee Dub Parts Unlimited of Huntington Beach there is no extra charge for a swap spot at Bug-In. We at the Bug-In feel that the swap meet is one of the biggest attractions at the Bug-In, along with the drag racing and the car show. We are proud to host what is probably the largest all VW swap meet in America! You just need to pay your $20 spectator admission and we will give you as much space as you need. Swappers must be private parties selling used VW related merchandise. All spaces are assigned first come, first serve. Gates open at 7am.

Vintage Meadows
A Special Display of Beautiful Vintage Volkswagens
Another new display at the bug-In will be the Vintage Meadows. Some of the nicest 1957 and older VWs in the world will be in this special display between the venders and the pits, adjacent to the drag strip. This will be a show case of vehicles that will be participating in the Wolfsburg West Vintage VW Treffen being held next September 11th at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim.

Lightning Strikes Twice

World Famous VW Racers, they Schley Brothers will have both their Historic race cars on display along with some other well know VW race cars from the 60’s and 70’s. Definitely something you don’t want to miss.

Bonneville Land Speed Record Holders
This year at the BUG-IN we will also be having a nice display of some VW powered Bonneville Salt Flat Cars. These vehicles are past and present Land Speed Record Holders. Be sure to check out the display to see some of the fastest VWs in the world.

Huge Raffle hosted by the VTO and SV2s Bus Clubs

Proceeds from this raffle will be donated to charity, so help come out and support a good cause. The Main attraction of this years raffle will be a freshly built engine by Chico Performance that will be going to one luck winner. Be sure to stop by the Raffle booth located between the Car Show and Drag Strip to buy your Tickets!!!

Not to mention some of the fastest cars heading down the strip in our Awesome Drag Racing Program!!

If you're a VW fanatic, then there's one event you just can't afford to miss!!

Will there be more food/drinks vendors this year? It was pretty warm last year, and it would be good to have more places selling bottled water.

We will have the same main food/drink vendors as last year behind the Grandstands, but we're working on getting more spread throughout the car show and Swap area. Unfortunately all concessions are controlled by the speedway, and we can't bring in any outside vendors Sad

For the Sat night Bus Campout, do the buses HAVE to be westys? I have a 15 window with a full length westy bed in the back that I camp with regularly, can I camp out with the rest?

No, it doesn't have to be a westy. To participate in the campout, you simply just need to be in a VW. Even a bug or type 3 with cool camping accessories would be ok, just no RV's, Toy Haulers or massive trailers will be allowed. If you're in a VW consider yourself safe.

Yes we'll have trailer parking available outside of the display area.

Yes it is a participant judged car show. Each person gets a judging card when they enter their car in the show. You can vote for one car in each class, except the class you are entered in.
