Can anyone tell me how to find history on my bug.Would like to find out how many owners there have been,without using one of those pay for information sites

Unfortunately, only so much info is free. And that kind of info costs money... Brick wall

does the person you bought it from have any info on the person before him?

I wish more people were like you and took an interest in where their vehicles came from. I sold a 66 in the past, and I wish whoever had it now was trying to chase that info down. I would love to know where my old 66 is now.

I bought the car in the mid 80's in San Diego and, i don't have have any info on the previous owner.
