I came across an ad on craigslist for a '69 bus. No pictures and about one line of information led me to believe that this was going to be a pile that I could use for parts. I emailed the guy a couple times and dealt with him flaking out on showing it a couple times but I finally got to come up today. What I found surprised me to say the least. It is a Savanna Beige 9 Passenger in the Light Sand/Khaki Brown interior. It still has much of the Khaki Brown interior but has some homemade bed setup in it. Anyway, the body is pretty straight and included the motor and everything he had for it. Not a bad bus really, the best part is that it cost me $100 cash! It is also only about 3 miles from my house! Not every day that happens.

I plan to use some paint stripper to take off the hippie paint on the side and buff out the paint a bit, I think it will come out nice. I am going to ditch the camper stuff and leave the back bare to use as a parts runner and eventually restore it. I have wanted a Savanna Beige bus and the non-walkthrough is a plus for me. Can't go wrong for $100.

Here she is, I need help naming her (I was thinking flower):

Nice Score. Do you have plans to put it back on the road this summer? I see it has no engine so I guess an upright is in order. Very Happy Good thing there's one in the back seat eh!

Reminds me of mine. haha

Not quite the same steal, but $450 is close.

I'm getting a dude vibe off of it. Like an old military statue that's been covered in bird poop, or in your case, really bad hippy drawings. I'd go with something like Roosevelt or Custer, or some kind of old school tough military-ish name. But that's just my .02

Well I was digging around in the cabinets and decided to lift up the back seat and found this! Can't believe I didn't look in there before. I also got stung by a bee while rummaging around in there, that hasn't happened since I was a kid...

I've got the that table but seem to be missing the leg, mount, and dash clips. One of these days I'll find them at a swap meet I'm sure.

Caleb, don't feel bad about your paint job... compared to the paint job on my son's new (2nd) bus, yours is no problem, mon. He already bought a buncha sandpaper. Somehow I don't think that Tigger action is gonna buff out.... Laughing

Yours reminds me (albeit a really poor imitation) of Janis's old Porsche.

Dang that is quite a bus! I think my best bet is some graffiti remover here. I am going to get up in the morning and head to Lowes and pick up some. I will post some pics of the progress...

Name suggestion... "Savanna"!

OTOH it may not be that well thought-out, since none of my VWs has a name.

I went down to Lowes and picked up some graffiti remover and some rags. I started on the drivers side and found that this stuff is amazing! Spray on, wipe off, repeat. I comes off like butter with the remover. The only thing that stopped me is I ran out of rags (you go through a ton) and time. Here are the results:
