|
|
I've seen far too many gas to diesel conversion threads, however could someone point me in the right direction for converting my 1982 Diesel vanagon to gas?
I'm assuming fuel tank, pump, fuel lines...anything else? what about filler neck options? Just grab everything from a gas Van or...?
Thanks everyone! Curious to know what you've done if you've gone this same diesel to gas conversion.
Cheers! |

You have not 'seen far too many gas to diesel' threads. That type of comment is trolling at its best.
You don't need to do anything to the fuel tank or filler. You'll need to hook up the evap system and add whatever fuel pump is required. _________________ I am a high-functioning autistic into VW diesels and Vanagons along with other things that are unrelated to this site. |

So I can use the diesel tank for the gasoline engine? none of the fuel lines or hoses are different?
I realize that i'll need to change the fuel line routing in the engine bay, but that is no big deal.
So if the tank is the same, does the gas fuel pump work in the diesel tank? or are the fuel pumps the same?
Thanks for your help! |

The fuel tanks are the same.
The diesel filler tube is different from the gas filler tube because the diesel pump nozzle is larger than the gasoline pump nozzle. If you are fitting a gasoline engine [facepalm] the gasoline nozzle will fit and function without issue in the diesel filler tube.
As I mentioned, the evap line is different. As I also mentioned, a fuel pump will need to be added.
The vanagon gas fuel pump is not in the fuel tank. It is inline between the tank and engine compartment. Because of that you will need to modify the line and adapt to whatever pump you add. You haven't mentioned what engine you plan on converting to. _________________ I am a high-functioning autistic into VW diesels and Vanagons along with other things that are unrelated to this site. |
