Dumb question, but what do the front seat rails look like?

VIN of this bus: 720734

Of course, since you already have the seats, and it may well be a "Service Installation" covered in the Bentley, grab a welder and have at it. The hardest part was drilling the spot welds and grinding off the welds from my seat stands, but since you don't have those, half the battle is already over. The spot welds on the four pieces you'll need to collect, of course, need to have the spot welds drilled out too, but in the end, it's worth it. I still like Bench Seating better though, it smacks of earlier buses, which yours is.

Those green lower corner panels are original. The repros WW sells are vinyl covered, which is incorrect.
Also the green panel above the engine is og. The best way to remove that is lift the passenger side up to clear the gas filler, and pull the whole thing forward keeping it straight with the bus, then pull it out the cargo door. Twisting makes it trickier. (Installation you bring in the cargo door, straight with the bus, drop the drivers side down so just the edge is on the flat area above the engine, and slide it straight back, drop the passenger side down when it clears the gas filler bump.)
You have the armrest brackets still on the long wall. Those black metal strips with nut/bolt at each end
keep those pieces.

Seat belt mounts look like the bus was factory optioned.

Thanks Clara, I made sure to keep all the screws also when I removed them. I do think I will go bench route on this bus. Anyone want to buy some seats? LOL

Got a bit ahead of myself and was just curious if a rattle can primer would cover up the awful graffitti on this bus. Whatever they painted it with left massive runs, can I just sand these down and rattle can over them for now? What grit should I use and how much should I sand?

You could probably sand down the runs with some 220 grit and then hit it with some 400 to smooth it out. Then hit it with some primer. It would lookm better than that stupid graffiti. Krylon sprays on nice, it has a nicer nozzle than rustoleum.

Yes, with a common orbital sander you can flatten those high school drools and follow up with an appropriate primer.

The images you show portray a hugely more restorable bus than the first found pictures.showed, congratulations, that bus is gonna' survive, and not because of us, but because of YOU!

Good on you! Cool

Took the diamond tuck material off of my interior panels and found what looks to be OG colors. I wet the panel down and put it between two boards and a large sheet of metal. I parked my car on top of it for most of the day and the panel came out flat as a pancake. Hopefully when it dries completely it will stay flat.

I plan on taking the front end out and fixing the steering and doig the brakes. PO had started to take front end out so I think there are missing pieces. If anyone spots one, let me know. Check out the sloppy tow bar that I borrowed, it ruined the steering damper when I backed the bus up.

From 2 of the pics there is some bolts that hold the beam in missing. Can't tell from pics if any are in it, is there any in it? If not you're lucky that tow baring it only damaged the dampener! Shocked

Was the bus sanded down before all that graffiti was sprayed on there? There might be some good OG paint left.

Nice work on the panels, btw.
