My Multivan LLE #1164 -92. Engine 1.6 TD JX.
All Multivan only interior and exterior parts still in places.
As soon as possible there´s going to be some T4 engine in back of this car and gearbox with much nicer 4.86 diff and 0.70 5th gear.
After that body get some attention and some other very little modifications only making this car better, but OEM in mind all the time, almost.

How is the black around the side windows done?

Paint or sticker?

I think I have seen it before like this.

I like this option for my white Multivan. I have had this in my mind for some time.

If it is original to these LLE vans then I may do it myself to my Multivan.

It would save me a lot of extra work I really do not want to do at this time.

So is it original?

If so, how is it originally done, if it is really original.

I think VW should have done the black window trim treatment from the factory for their heavily optioned rigs like Bluestars and LLE. I'm planning to do this on my van sometime this year...if for no other reason than my clearcoat is peeling in that area.

Sweet van!!

R39o
:no,that black mask around the window is not factory option.

Those vans are sweet because of the interior, but I hate them because they rust badly, more than others.
A German that I met one day whose son was installing a 997?? Porsche for the first time in Germany a few years back told me they did that last limited serie from a shell stock that was "laying around".
I don't how that is true, because he insisted on the fact that there has been 10 000 LLE:5000 Red and 5000 Blue Confused
They did the rust prevention treatment pretty cheap anyway on the last years,I have a Hannover Edition that rusted badly, more than the old ones (thinner tar underneath, less galvanization, less wax etc....)

I have similiar reasons for doing it, too.

ALSO, I happen to really like it for some reason.

They DID do this sort of thing for other model VWs. They used a sticky vinyl material for that application.

It would NOT surprise me if there was an option code for this. I seem to recall seeing it on vans when I lived in Europe for a few years during the late 80s and early 90s. But, I could just be imagining it too, as I really was heavy into GTis then.

Anyway, this is LLE number 1164 from 2500 wich came out of factory. I´m going to paint it all over original Tornadored only clearcoat applied and no black around windows. Only black grill, stripes in bumbers and side skirts etc. as original.
There will be Porsche Cup 1 wheels on it, 7,5x17 in front and 9x17 back with adapters, those Fuchs are copies with 5x112 pattern.

There is no airplane style a/c plenum. Does it have a/c? You would think since it is a Limited Edition it would have a/c.

Vans with AC are more rare in Europe.

I think it was an option as well on LLE.Since that was a limited edition,I don't know if customers were able to choose options on them. Confused
I never seen a LLE with AC yet,but I'm not LLE expert Laughing

No, there´s no A/C in this car...and I don´t think that there is no A/C in any other LLE.
Towbar is OEM VW.
This car is imported from Germany to Finland in 2009.

That is a pretty red. I also like those Porsche wheels. They look pretty sweet on a Vanagon with that red.

A/C should be an option for the LLEs too.
I've seen LLEs with power windows, these have been option too.

In May 1989 Volkswagen delivered the multivan "Blue Star" in starblue-metallic (light-blue) and in September of the same year the "White Star" was brought out. These special editions of multivans have lap seatbelts in the rear and simple triangel-panes as standard fittings. As optional extras one could order curtains, triangle-panes which can be opened, three-point-belts for the seats in the rear, a glassroof, air-conditioning and automatic transmission. These multivans were produced in Hannover, Lower Saxony. The production stopped in summer 1990 with the company's summer holidays, after the break VW started to produce the T4 in Hannover.

In spring 1992 the 2.500 Limited Last Edition were delivered, either in red (tornadorot) or dark-blue (orlyblue metallic). These multivans were produced by "Steyr Puch" in Graz, Austria. As standard fittings they have three-point-belts on the back seats, triangle-quarterlights, regulation for the lights and curtains. They could be ordered as turbo-diesel with 51 KW or fuel-injection with catalyst - 68 KW. No extras could be ordered ex works. With the end of 1992 the delivery was finished.

So-called "Red Star" and "Blue Star" (in dark-blue like the Limiteds) were also delivered in autumn 1992, but only with a turbo-diesel engine. These vehicles were only sold to works employees who were actually waiting for a "Limited Last Edition". According to the chassis numbers these multivans were produced between the last two Limited Last Edition. The last vw bus built in Graz is LLE 2500, which is shown in the VW-Museum in Wolfsburg. It has the chassis number WV 2 ZZZ 25 ZNG 011279. But the vehicle built next to least was not LLE 2499. There seems to be no system of continuity within the chassis numbers and the LLE numbers.
