Just curious how difficult/easy it is titling/registering a buggy in Wisconsin or moving one in from out of state.

I can't say how it is for titling buggies, but I have acquaintances on a military vehicle forum that are having major issues with titling ex-US Military vehicles over in Wisconsin. Seems that someone in WisDOT has burr in their saddle over titling certain classes of vehicles for highway use.

Good Luck - dig into the issue & see what you can find!

So they don't register it as a '19XX Volkswagen'?

Do you know anybody who's ever had to file an insurance claim with a buggy titled like that? That's the part that worries me.

My Manx is registered on the title in Illinois as a 1965 Volkswagen but Stste Farm has it insured as a 1965 Meyers Manx kit car. State Farm also has photos of the car on file. They say it's not an issue. Hopefully I will never need to find out.

perhaps there is confusion

its STILL a 19** VW on the title itself

you just get yourself a different type of license plate

does that make sense?

Yeah - that parts makes sense...

BUT my associates in Wisconsin with the ex-military trucks have their vehicles NOW running the Historic Mil-Vehicle plate... and the vehicles can ONLY be used for parade duty, or off-road use. No carrying of mulch for your garden, no commercial use, etc... Nice plate if you're interested in buying a trailer queen.

Thus - my curiosity in regards to buggies being 'classified' as some type of special class buy the idiots at WisDOT.

Unfortunately, numerous other states are watching what California, Wisconsin, and others pass as 'special vehicle' laws. Seems that some government types want all collector cars to disappear from use on public highways...

FWIW -
