The sharp bend holds a cable casing down at its terminal. A lever with a cable hole in it should be nearby.

Thanks, Merian and Gnarlodious. I do think that they interface with the vents. Will check in the AM and report back. They are similar to the ones holding the cable casing and I looked real close on the heater box but could not see. The one on the left I think goes to the ashrtay.

The four clips that are the same in your pic fit into slots on the dash vents that are the on the left and right side of the top padded / vinyl dash cover. The clips are a little wider than the vent opening in the dash and hold the vents in place.

Thanks for the pictures Skidub, your van looks clean, just finished getting the dash back in. Went from brown to black. Looking forward to starting the van tomorrow, been too long.
