My wife just picked up a nice 76 Super Beetle Convertible. I do all of the maintenance and most repairs on all of my vehicles, but this is my first beetle, and first "older" car. Any and all advice and tips will be welcome. I will post occasionally in the beetle forum with questions and issues as they arise. Thanks in advance.

I assume that the engine is still fuel injection, and has not been converted to carburetion.
In some locations, 1976 is still required to have emissions testing. _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. The '71 now has the 1835 engine, swapped from the '70. Second owner of each. 1988 Mazda B2200 truck, 1998 Frontier, 2014 Yukon, 2004 Frontier King Cab. Still fuel injection. I have no intentions on changing that. No emissions here in Arkansas. |

| First thing to buy since you do your own work is to buy the orange Robert Bentley "Official Service Manual", Amazon or used in classifieds, as it guides you through all your problems even the FI. Keep everything that is original German that you can because the aftermarket China parts are crap. Enjoy. |
