My wife just picked up a nice 76 Super Beetle Convertible. I do all of the maintenance and most repairs on all of my vehicles, but this is my first beetle, and first "older" car. Any and all advice and tips will be welcome. I will post occasionally in the beetle forum with questions and issues as they arise. Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to TheSamba.

I moved your thread to SB because the site forum is really for site/admin related questions and topics only.

I assume that the engine is still fuel injection, and has not been converted to carburetion.

In some locations, 1976 is still required to have emissions testing.

Still fuel injection. I have no intentions on changing that. No emissions here in Arkansas.

First thing to buy since you do your own work is to buy the orange Robert Bentley "Official Service Manual", Amazon or used in classifieds, as it guides you through all your problems even the FI. Keep everything that is original German that you can because the aftermarket China parts are crap. Enjoy.
