anyone try using a rubber 1.5 " hose in place of the coolant pipe from the water pump to the thermostat housing? just cut the existing pipe after the t's.and replace with a rubber cooling hose. could support with tie wraps on side wall. anyone try powder coating this coolant pipe? $150 dollars for this pipe seems excessive?

Seems like a good idea. Mine is about shot and would be worth a try, presuming i had a back up plan down the road. I guess you would want to make a nipple with like jbweld or something to help hold the hose with clamps so it doesnt just slip off

Try "sleepyjoe" in the classifieds. He seems to have a couple of these used and I bought a used one from him a year ago. Great service and in fine shape.

The issue with the cut pipe not having the nipple or flared area is a biggie - don't try it. I even tried glueing AND clamping a hose onto a section and it came off in a couple weeks.

I was travelling on the road and saw a small leak in the parking lot near a homedepot and far from home..I cobbled up copper pieces and copper flex pipe and barbed ends..worked for a long time, but this was an emergency and no fun..don't wait for when you have too...
