More lame wiper questions

I have spent couple of days reading approx. 400,000 posts about wipers. I have my questions narrowed down to a few easy ones:
1. If I do the 12v armature from WW, will I be satisfied with the wipers for use on a not-quite-daily driver? Average rainfall where I live is over 42". Is a 2 speed 1967 wiper motor that much better? I have not driven my oval yet so I have no baseline.
2. My long connecting rod has been shoddily welded after an apparent break. Am I correct in assuming that I must find a 57-down replacement due to the narrower pivot centers versus 58+? Anyone got one laying around?
3. Was it 53 that was last year for round stalk? I see a lot of bases for sale but no one differentiates between early and late oval; do the 3 mm flat stalks use the same base that the round ones did? Are original bases like gold? Lol
4. What do you think of the repop arms sold by Hoffman and paruzzi?
