i am still trying to figure out my overheating issues. quick ques, can a merged exhaust cause a stock 1600sp with 30/31 run hotter, i mean really hot? i have not rejetted it, this is straight from brosol, so whatever jets they supply from them is what is in it

The exhaust shouldn't cause it to run hotter. If anything it will create a flat spot with a stock carb. What makes you think the engine is running hotter? How are oil and cylinder head temps?

Changing the exhaust requires you to jet the carb accordingly, since the engine will likely be more efficient and hence need more fuel. You're probably running lean.

Anyone that sells VW parts should have solex jets. Most 30/31's have 120 or 122 main jets.
