If you have done this,,,,, pleez put up some pics,,,,,,,,, oh,,,,pleezzz!!!!! along with bracketing for the front and back lights!!!!! and whether you took off your back deck lid,,,,,,,pleeeeeezz!!! I am such an E Z person when it comes to bugs!!!!! |

There's a dude in my town thats done this although I haven't actually been able to catch up with him yet.
It painted blue/green with a lawnchair type bench seat. He's got a hood on the front AND back...looks pretty neat he did a quality job. I will not be doing it to my '62 though. _________________ Orange whip? Orange whip?.... Three orange whips...

They look pretty silly that way.
Most of the true Volksrods have a beam extension which pushes the front axle forward. Without doing other modifications to lower the body and the usually the roof, they don't look right.
I have a Porsche powered 57 rag top thats next on my project list to go fenderless and channelled. I just need to get a few other more important things out of the way first. _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

I like the way it looks.
I've had a lot of cars over the years, and I've always wanted a fenderless hot rod.
I can't afford a deuce or anything else from that era, so I settled on ripping the fenders off a helpless VW and just letting my imagination go wild.
I built it for me and me alone. I actually kind of enjoy it when people say how much they hate it. I don't like doing what everybody else does. |

Amen to that. When someone spends their hard earned money and all their spare time to build a vehicle ultimateley the only thing that matters is do YOU like it.
Do you want to drive around your vehicle with fenders on it just because someone says it looks dumb without them? No, you want to drive your bug without fenders because its what YOU want. If anyone wants to bitch about your vw, let them, as long as YOU are happy with YOUR car and it's what YOU want. |

I wasnt asking as an insult (sorry if it came out that way) just thought there was a benefit to it or something. i would think that if you were making it to be fenderless, you would fill in the fender holes for a cleaner look...not my cup of tea really, but to each their own.. |

I love volksrods. Because they're different. When I started looking for a bug I was planning on doing that. But then I decided to get rid of my jeep and the baja is taking its place.
Check. Your local laws before you pull the fenders though. |

Thanks yall. One area that took us about a year to get right was the "HUMP" around the tank. A trick that we found was to take the rear inner fenders, remove the body mount brackets, then swap left for right, then use them for front inner fenders.
WAH LA! The hump is gone. Theres nothing wrong with the factory hump but we wanted it to look a little cleaner.
