Hi,
Long time reader!
Got the van out of storage, ready to winter camp. I know it backwards.Too many people here in the summer!
Everything great did 100 miles to make sure everything OK.
Got up this morning. Started first time. running smooth. Turned on the lights everything dead. Did not have time to research due to work.
Any input would be great, before I start ripping into it after work!
Thanks for your time!!!!!

Bad alternator or connection? Could have been running off just battery this morning and the lights pulled voltage down to a level where things didn't work?
More info could help. Will it start back up? Did it instantly die or was is a slow death?

It instantly died, when I turned the head lights on.
The battery power is good!
Will not start, nothing at all, even a solenoid does not click?
Bad battery ground? _________________ VANAGON 1.9 SEA TURTAL

Does anything electric work? Lights, fan, radio? And do you have a house battery (under driver's seat)?

I'd start with cleaning the grounds and battery connections. All fuses ok? _________________ 84 Westy with a 2.1 (Groover)

Weird that nothing is working as the house battery should run stuff when the van is off, right? A lot depends on how things are wired which who knows with previous owners. Check ignition switch too, these go bad but I'm not sure all you symptoms point to this part. Hopefully someone more electrically minded comes along.

I see 1.9 Vanagon. It may not be relevant but what year please?
What is the starter battery voltage?
I agree with raoul; first clean the battery connections.
If cleaning the connections doesn't help.....
If the 2nd battery under driver seat is not electrically isolated from starter battery when engine is off (it should be), and 2nd battery voltage is low or the battery has failed, that 2nd battery would be a huge drain on the starter battery.
