I've said it before, but most people get tired of hearing it. Drove to albuquerque today, no problems at all. Good time, ac worked and van ran cool, even though hot outside, and 20.5 mpg.

I really love my westy

Don't jinx it!

I refuse to publicly state just how great my van runs these days.

In fact, I do not even consider how wonderfully smooth it is.

Nor allow myself to enjoy the AC too much.

Don't jinx it....

I boasted once while tootooling along in the rain one night...

and I coasted to the shoulder of the road not 300ft later..

it really was just that fast... broadsided by karma or whatnot.

I guess I'm due. I put on my Westfalia Republic T-shirt and drove all around town today just to show it off (also because I just love to drive it).

It's going to hit me big time!

So true. I finally got my audi wheels mounted on my tintop the other week after having them sit in my garage for months. Went and showed her off and was talking about how good they looked. Came out the very next morning only to find a large puddle of coolant under the van, thus ruining the new wheels high I was on Crying or Very sad

Ha! fantastic!

I just pulled my Westy out of storage today after sitting since July. Connected up the negative battery terminals and the four year old Odyssey AGMs were sitting at 12.4 and 12.6. Primed the fuel pump a couple times with the key in the run position, and the old 1.8T fired right up. No hiccups, no worries, knock on wood. I brought it back to where we are staying, and my kids gave tours to the other kids in the neighborhood. Huge smiles all around!

I got a t-shirt for Christmas with a pic of our van on a tow truck and the words "I'm more reliable than my Vanagon." I think it's been working as reverse psychology against the jinx since I got it.

Fear is part of why I haven't done the body work, replaced the wheels, or installed the new springs- what if it rejects the pretty stuff mechanically?

Can your van come over and have a little talk with my van?
I think it would be a good influence. Laughing
