I helped my Father in-law yank this Bugatti kit out of a barn in Indiana. Thinking that it would be a great project for my kids and I (I know I shouldn't think) we brought the car home. It is registered as a 1969, the frame number starts with 119 and I haven't been able to locate any info ref to type or year starting with 119. The engine Number is B5088899, if my research is correct it's a 1500 from a type 2 1969 model year built sometime between Dec of 68 and Jul of 69. Can someone confirm my findings and help with the frame number?
I have had it on the road, it didn't run very well. I changed the engine, and gear oil. I opened the plug gap to .025, and set the dwell to 50, (points were closed). I have timed it by ear and by the look of the timing marks I'm about 7.5-8 BTDC. I'll toss some pictures up when I get the chance.
I'm not new to forums, we have a jeep and classic mustang. I hope to learn and share as I go.
Thanks,
Matt |

if there is a data plate on it, I haven't found it yet, any suggestions? I even took up the carpet to look at the transmission tunnel, no luck. A friend looked at it and thought it was from a company in Buffalo NY, but the name escapes me at the moment. Once I get it cleaned up it will be a pretty nice replica. The car is yellow fiberglass, with a wood grain panel (not very nice) It does have a model T steering wheel. |

Got it out on the road today, after installing new bonnet straps. I found a guy in NC that made them and shipped to my home in 6 days. Here are some pics, if anyone can tell me who made this kit I would appreciate it. I have done a lot of work to get where the car is today, rebuilt generator, new fuel pump and carb. Sand blasted and painted the wheels, new tires, refinished the faux grill. I also replaced the crappy cut into the rear fender trailer lights and put on some ford led tail lights.

I took a panel off the car today while working around the fuel tank and found the name of a business stamped in the wood;
The Auto Store
120 State Str.
Santa Barbara, CA
I used to live in Santa Barbara and worked around the block from this address and I've never heard of this company. Anyone have any ideas?
