I just got a split bus off ebay,It was a really cheap price and not too much rust. But no title and I just went out to look at the m-codes and the plates are gone, all thats there is the color tag . L360 and L289.
Any clue on how i can get info on it?, even the year would be helpful.
Thanx

Also, look at the fresh air vent on the passenger side. you should have a plate up there that will tell you the vin number...that in turn will tell what year you have

Sweetbus, your bus is a '65. the 2nd 5 in the vin number indicates the year. I think the first 2 digits indicate something also, such as the model?. the rest of the numbers are part of the vin number.

Where do you get feb from?
I don't think you can tell what month a bus was made without the m-code plate. the vin number doesn't dictate the month at all.
Look at the vin numbers again and tell me if all type 2 vin numbers start with a 2.

I have done alot of research of differences of VIN's thru the years, loactions, m-plates and etc at http://dropgates.com/identity
also i have all the *current* info for sending away for the birth certificate here
http://dropgates.com/resto/identitycert.html

BTW- the 3rd number in the VIN meaning the year, *only* applys to overhead plates, which were used Aug64 and on, not on vin#'s in other locations from 50 all the way to 67. (Aug64 and on m-plates behind seat had the year at the beggining of the vin) Also someone prolly just riveted that plate up there and title'd it off that plate back in the day which is why its a Dlux walkthru plate on a non Dlux walkthru bus. You should still have the VIN stamped in the engine compartment next to the apron on the passenger side.
