This shows where the throttle tube comes thru my fan shroud is there supposed to be some kind of grommet to help fill the gap? I believe the shroud is off a `67 but not completly sure; I tried searching but couldn`t find any reference or pics. Thanks for your time.

I think there is a small plastic piece that fills the gap between the throttle cable tube and shroud, at least on later models.
Wouldn't know where to find it.

It's flexible rubber rather than plastic and yes it is hard to find. A more common solution is a small fuel line clamp on the throttle tube.

Here's an example of a shroud with part of the original grommet still in place plus a hose clamp..!

It looks like cip1 has them , listed for later model shrouds. I'll get one and see if it fits in there. I'm in the process of putting ALL the tins, flaps and thermostat back in and didn't want any air leaks; I'll run a hose clamp to make sure it stays put for the mean time.

Got a link? I just searched their website for a few minutes and couldn't find it.

Edit: wait, I think I may have found it???

You can split a peice of fuel hose and slip it around the conduit and then install the hose camp. This reduces the chance of it rattling.

Yes the above link is the one I saw.
I may try the fuel hose trick and see what I get. While no rattles would be nice I'm more worried about an air leak, I know it's small but better safe than sorry.

I know this is an old post but I just split a vacuum hose and made a grommet in two minutes. Fits well, no metal to metal and cost next to nothing since it was leftover hose.

In the front I used a 20 cent round universal grommet from the hardware store.

No rattles....

If you look on that gas line, you can see a little wear from the lack of a grommet some time in its past. The shroud can cut through the line from vibration. So while a clamp will keep it in place, the rubber or plastic will keep it from getting cut and leaking gasoline on your #3 exhaust manifold.

Use a fender washer to plug the rest of that hole and give the hose clamp something better to push against. Smile

Dude, no fuel there, that's the throttle cable tube Very Happy

More importantly, Her74buggy's pic show's the Doghouse oil cooler is missing the Hoover Bit that the fan shroud has a slot for (as well as the thermostat return spring).

Looks like missing Sealing bracket AKA the Hoover bit. Need that for proper cooling.

I had one of the original grommets and it fell off at some point. I didn't realize that it required a pair as in the cip1 listing.
