I have an early 1958 ragtop beetle project that currently has a complete, original, and very nice late oval interior in place of the original L72 red leatherette interior that was special ordered for the car (This is an original L41 black car). The car was a tourist car purchased by an Austrian family and picked up at the Mahag dealership in Munich in Fall 1957. It was then driven around Europe and returned to Austria where I purchased it a couple of years ago. It went through a few owners, one of which replaced the special order L72 interior with a complete black leatherette interior from a late oval era car. I have collected original door cards and seat frames to redo the L72 interior and am considering selling this oval / black interior given how complete and original it is. There are no rips or damage to the original material, but there are a few spots that need the seams to be re-sewn. However these are minor. The back seat is pristine and has retained all of its padding. The only real issue is the front door cards where a PO installed 5” speakers. Given the hole in each door card falls on a single panel, perhaps this can be repaired? Regardless, this would be a really nice interior for an all original or patina car in need of a black leatherette interior with white piping.
My question: If I were to sell the interior, what would be a fair price for the complete interior?
Here are few photos to help you out. Many thanks for your input.
