What parts do i need to purchase?
How do i convert?
Do i need new cables?
Please, write all you know, don't miss a thing.

Obviously all light bulbs, battery, I'd recommend a Bosch AL 82- (X is rebuilt, N is new) Alternator with a built in voltage regulator... you will need to change to an alternator/oil filler stand and a 12v pulley and 10mmx900mm belt... a 12v gen alt holdown strap... Some proper sized & color wire to bypass/rewire where the voltage regulator fed the juice through....
A voltage drop or variable speed adaptor or a 12v wiper motor (or Armature conversion)....
12v turn signal flasher relay (may require some wiring changes/modifications)
The other biggest deal will be if you have a 6v flywheel and starter, you can just add a 12v soleniod to the starter and it will handle the 12 just fine.... otherwise the 6v soleniod will work but will burn out shortly....
Or depending on what engine you have you may can go to the 12 v flywheel and 200mm clutch, (clearancing of bell housing reqquired on early 6v tranny) and use a 12v AUTOSTICK starter to aviod the starter bushing hassle... Oh yeah HORN.....
Plus Someone else will add.....?????

Gas Gauge if applicable. Try to get a '67 12v gauge, but you may have to use a volt-a-drop. What year is that 23?

If your really up for fun, you can buy a 12V armature for your wiper motor and swap it out so you can avoid the voltadrop. You can also get the 2 speed wiper switch for added fun. NAES

Follow up note: The correct looking 2 speed wiper switch is a '66 only part.

I have had good results with the "variable speed" voltage regulator piece. You can adjust on the fly when it starts raining hard and the motors can usually handle the 7.5 max V that it cranks out.... better have good shafts and blades though.... plus it's much better than the standard volt a drop since it does give you more speed if you want it.

It is great if you can get the stuff together to do the 2 speed thing but it can take some time to find all the right parts.
I have used them on 65-66 bugs until I could get the right 67-68 stuff to make it 12v 2speed.

I have found that leaving the gas gauge -- 6 volt or 12 volt makes little difference--
leave the 6 volt starter --I have had a 6 volt starter in my 62 for 16 years with a 12 volt system--leave the 6 volt horn--it Will be louder--Wipers? How often do you drive in the rain?--They will be a little FAST!! Use your judgement--I think it is a 559 Four Way Flasher--to convert to 12 volt--May as well go with 12 volt Halogen lights--
