Awesome. I wasn't going to have available until next week. _________________ Its a mistress; an expensive, whiney, needy bitch of a mistress. there's a bit more welding to be done yet, across the front, a bit at the back and a bit more inside
steering rack boots, LPG tank under the floor, secondary battery wiring and a bunch of other stuff, and 2 weeks to get it done if the weather keeps dry i'll have to finish _________________ lucy our westy

lucy has a new LPG tank, the previous owner said it was full of holes, i can't see any
we bought one anyway
there are a few differences, although the new one fit in place fine
it'll be time to test it soon _________________ lucy our westy

NICE! perhaps you can clean the old one up (if structurally sound) and mount as a reserve or extra for prolonged travelling? I don't know if that is feasible. My propane tank is under the slider not on the Westy side. _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

That tank's pretty thick, hard to tell by the pics but it doesn't look like the rust is that deep. Maybe it's got a bad o-ring or something. I bought a tank from that Chris fellow over your way and it was super rusted; not advertised as such of course. Still works fine though, heh!
I've got two tanks on my van, comes in real handy when running the heater, BBQ, and cooktop a lot. There's practially mounts already for the 2nd tank. Also I've got an auto-changeover valve so you can see when a tank is empty and get that one filled up. _________________ 1986 Vanagon Westfalia EJ25

sanded and repainted lucy's rust spots
we first coated the with kurerust which as supposed to be good stuff
it didn't turn blue
this was sanded and painted in kureust a few days ago, i gave it two coats, recomended if it's going to be outside
this is how it was the next morning
so i sanded it again, and gave it a coat of clear POR15
then i tried my fan motor and it's dead
no putting lucy's dash just yet
so i decided it's time to start wiring for the aux battery, a big 80amp charge relay, the wires to and from the relay are 4 gauge, i have bought a karmann ghia fuse board
the interior lights and the westy electrics now have been rewired into the aux battery
then there was a lot of masking up of lucy
a bit of paint mixing
then some spraying
once it's dry the masking came off
don't look at the dent, i couldn't be bothered to pull it out, and it was too deep for bondo, it's all the same color
that's how she looks now, tomorrow i'll start putting her back together _________________ lucy our westy

Rubbachicken I love your pioneer spirit and enthusiasm as you smash all rules, barriers and time lines with the restoration.
I have a homemade paint booth in my shop that I scrub and clean as thorough as possible before painting a vehicle...and I still get bugs or dust particles in the paint. You guys didn't even sweep the driveway and your work looks great. You are having waaay tooo much fun. Keep it up! _________________ "Always waiting for tomorrow ruined everything"
