Will the steel wheels from a 2010 Golf fit my 1981 Westy? I've searched the forum but could not find this.

Thanks and appologies from this newbie!

Check out the stickies "what wheels fit" Off the top of my head I would say that they wont fit. Look for wheels with a 5x112mm bolt pattern (Audi A4 Passat b5/5.5 some Mercedes. Check the stickies though.

hello sir-
I certainly hope they will-- do you have an et for them [offset in millimeters]? stock vanagon is 30mm et.
You need to be aware that your westy, fully loaded will almost double the golf in weight. try to donor parts for your 5klb van from something the same weight or heavier. you inherit a lineage of better engineering and good luck.
people here insist in using the brakes from these tiny vehicles too.

No. They aren't nearly strong enough and they would be inset too far - they are designed for a front wheel drive car. If you're looking for less expensive steel wheels, Mercedes Benz has the same bolt circle and only need new nuts & bolts and some spacers to fit. Wink

Thanks to each of you for the replies. On doing more research I found that the ET for these wheels is 44.

I have found some Mercedes wheels with an offset of 38 that will probably work!

You should search the Wheel & Tire thread for tips on the spacers etc you'll need: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=203519&sid=3bc9fb8e18f2ec9ee68182ff955b7105

Good Luck!

If you want to provide us with the part number and wheel size (height and width), I would be happy to let you know whether or not they will work and if they will, exactly which parts will be necessary.
